Reasonable motel in re-invigorated Stevenson WA. Can walk to all bars
I'm giving them a 5-star rating because the rooms were clean, the price was good, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. If you're looking for top-of-the-line, you shouldn't be looking at Rodeway, anyway. But as far as cheap hotels go, this place was awesome.
It appeared as if the bed linens had not been washed. There were multiple hairs in the bed and also a stain on the sheets. The sink also had some small pieces of food in it and the shower was still completely wet and had stains in it. The quilt of the bedding had multiple holes in it perhaps from cigarette burns. It also appeared as if none of the linens had ever been replaced in the history of this hotel. You could see the mattress through the sheets they were so worn out and thin. I explained all this to the staff, particularly the cleanliness issues. The wanted to see for themselves and then informed me they believed that the room was cleaned just fine. I demanded to check out and receive a refund and they refused. I immediately called another hotel and booked another room for the night and left without ever spending the night or receiving a refund. All of this was quite shocking coming from a Choice Hotel. Unless I receive a refund, I likely won't ever stay at one of the Choice Hotels again and definitely not a Rodeway Inn.
And the best thing is, its right next door to Cabin Drive-Through Coffee - which I highly recommend.
The staff was very accommodating. Original booked 3 rooms with king beds, but they were on the second floor with no elevator. The desk clerk was able to get us two rooms with 2 queen beds and one room with two full beds for additional $10 each. The property is really in need of repair and updating. It is not a 2 star motel. I am being generous giving it a 1 star. The room appears clean. Slept on top of the blankets. The rooms smell very musty. There is railroad tracks across the road so all you hear is freight trains most of the night. The TV kept on losing signal. Unless you are really in need of a room for the night I would suggest you go somewhere else.
New management is doing an amazing job at turning this place around, with new renovations, clean rooms, and excellent customer service. Perfect location near Portland and columbia river.
